Photography and the natural world nourish my soul. I seek out the special places and moments in nature in all the seasons—in the mountains, forests, rivers, oceans, inland lakes and the Great Lakes. I search for the right conditions, the light, and the perspective before finally capturing an image. After pressing the shutter button, I spend considerable time to enhance the images to capture the mood, tone, and essence of my experience and transform them into gallery-quality works of art.
Michigan is and always has been my home. While I live in Ann Arbor (or at my lake cottage “up north”), I am often found roaming the roads of our state—or exploring Alaska, the Pacific Northwest, or our national parks—to find and record those rare and meaningful scenes.
Many individuals, institutions, and businesses own my photographic tokens of nature. My work has also been included in juried exhibitions at the University of Michigan Health System and the Gaylord, Michigan, Council for the Arts, and the Great Northern Art Explosion in Grayling, Michigan.
It is my hope that the images you experience on these pages will communicate to you, in some measure, my joy with the wonders of the natural world that we live in.
