The Alaska Range

This panorama of the tundra in autumn and the central Alaska Mountain Range was taken on a cool and calm autumn day while Caribou were grazing out of frame. The view is from the Denali Highway at the Maclaren Summit, looking north. This is the highest point on the Denali Highway. The Denali Highway (Route 8) is a 135 mile, mostly gravel, road that was built as the first road to Denali National Park in 1957. It connects the Richardson Highway with Denali National Park and Preserve.

This gallery-quality panoramic photograph is a composite of 12 separate photographs that captures the vastness and beauty of the Alaskan landscape.
