East Channel Light

A guide for ships’ captains to refuge from Lake Superior’s brutal storms, was the intent of this light. First lit in 1868, it provided critical navigation guidance from the Lake to Munising Bay. In this image, it stands in stark contrast to its vivid autumn surroundings, a haunting reminder of a brutal past.
