Fishtown

Fishtown is a functioning commercial fishing village located in Leland, Michigan; a remnant of times gone by. From fresh catch to final product, all of the work is performed on these docks. Many of the buildings are original, dating back to the early nineteenth century. The Janice Sue (a turtleback tug built in 1958) and Joy (a trap net boat built in 1981) are the green-hulled boats shown in this gallery-quality photograph; both are still in use. Fishtown is on the National Register of Historic Places.
